The Patient’s Silent Voice

Hear me doctor please
Afraid silently I plead
Alone scared heart bleeds

  1. Ugh. This is like my whole life of Western medicine. It’s why my “regular doctor” is an acupuncturist. Until we can teach awareness to our doctors, this isn’t going to get better.

  2. Thank you for your comment.

The healthcare system is truly broken and has not positioned patients, families, or clinicians to develop authentic relationships, to develop trust, to share and hear whole stories, and to co-create care pathways aligned with the patient’s preferences and the patient’s goals.

This is one reason why I have decided to focus the next few months on writing the novel “From Heart to Head and Back Again … my journey through the healthcare system” …

… which focuses from the perspective of both a patient and a healthcare leader on highlighting areas for improvement within the system and also those flames already burning bright which we need to fan and continue.

The system must improve if we are to truly honor our commitments to patients, families, communities and ourselves and I pray my story serves to assist in this effort.

    Thank you again for sharing.

    Tom
