Coaching & Leading requires more than a keen focus on goal achievement, on tactic implementation, on winning. It requires an overriding purpose above and beyond.

A purpose which positions us to connect with our own true self and with each of our team members in authentic and healthy ways.

A purpose which takes us well beyond the X’s and O’s of coaching / well beyond the strategies and tactics and measurement and KPI’s of leading.

“Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.”

William Bruce Cameron

A purpose that creates special relationships we all so desire for our own well-being, the betterment of our teams and our communities, and our positive impact on society.

“The biggest disease today is not leprosy or cancer or tuberculosis, but rather the feeling of being unwanted, uncared for and deserted by everybody.”

Yes, strategies, tactics, goals, game plans, KPI’s, measurement protocols are all important. And we must leverage each to achieve success … and yet they must not outweigh our ability to connect as humans, to truly care, with love in our hearts for self and others, as we teach lessons both on and off the court.

Our purpose must be greater than winning.
